About the Candidate

I am running for Sacramento County Assessor to bring back the public's trust in this important County institution.  As a fifth generation Californian, I have a deep connection to our great state, and want to ensure our quality of life and general well being continue to improve in Sacramento County.

The Assessor's job is to assess property values accurately and fairly, so that property owners are not over-taxed and so that vital public services such as law enforcement, schools and parks, receive the funding they need.

Working in the real estate industry for 14 years and serving on non-profit boards and local commissions in an executive capacity, have given me the experience and skills needed to lead this office.

The Assessor must be held to the same standard as everyone else.  I will not tolerate corrutption, retaliation or harassment.  Taxpayers have the right to expect that their elected officials are ethical and fair.  Residents of Sacramento County should be able to clearly understand and access their property assessments.

My priority is to keep people in their homes, especially our Veterans, seniors and disabled citizens on a fixed income.  I will ensure property taxes stay low by advocating for Proposition 13's protections for homeowners and seniors.  As a homeowner, small businesswoman and taxpayer, I know firsthand the burden of being over-taxed.

I would be honored to serve as your Assessor and respectfully ask for your vote.  Together, we will ensure Sacramento County is a great place to raise a family, start a business and retire.

Kate and her family live, work and go to school in Sacramento.  Their interests include walking their Golden Retrievers through the neighborhood, film and music, yoga, working in the yard, and volunteering their time with local organizations.
